One of the most gorgeous animals on the planet is the elephant. They are also among the smartest people. But we humans haven’t exactly been kind to them.
We cage them for entertainment purposes, we slaughter them for their medicinal value, and we hunt them for sport. Sook-Jai is one of these unfortunate elephants that was held captive by humans and was forced to work many different jobs over the course of her life.
She moved from job to job and belonged to many different owners. She worked tirelessly until she couldn’t anymore. But finally she got a chance to be free from all that. The 73 year old elephant was finally rescued and transferred to safety of her new home.
When they arrived at the Park, Sook Jai raised her trunk to smell the new place and sent low rumbles out into the field, tears running down her face. Her eyes are dim and her hearing is faint, but let’s hope she will be happy from here on out.
