Selena Gomez didn’t demur when talking to Glamour UK about her most “memorable” beauty disaster. The singer opened up about how tanning lotion backfired on her at the 2018 Met Gala. Gomez wore a light Coach pink dress to the event.
“While I was getting ready for the Met Gala a few years ago, we put on a bit of tanning lotion and it looked beautiful, but as the night went on it kept getting darker and darker,” she said. “When I sat down [inside the event], I saw a photo of myself, and it looked completely orange. And here I am at this prestigious event. My first thought was, ‘I have to get out of here!’”

Gomez spoke previously to Vogue about the tanning mishap and how she didn’t realize her tan had gotten progressively darker. “I look at a photo of myself when I sit down, and I’m completely orange,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘This is going to be terrible because I’m going to get eaten alive about this.’”
During the night of the Met Gala, she turned it into a good-humored moment on her Instagram, sharing security footage of her leaving the event. “Me when I saw my pictures from MET 🤷🏽♀️,” she captioned it.
