Manchester United started 2023 with a convincing victory 3-0 over Bournemouth.
They have now won four consecutive Premier League games, lifting them up to the fourth spot in the table.
The next two fixtures will be their biggest test as they first host Manchester City and then travel to London to face league leaders Arsenal.
Apart from fixtures coming thick and fast, we have entered the winter transfer window where United are expected to sign a centre-forward.
January is also the time for the players to switch clubs after getting frustrated with the lack of game-time in the first half of the season. Here we look at the three United players who may head to the exit door.
1) Anthony Elanga
Erik ten Hag is eager to pursue a new striker in January after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
Any new arrival will push Elanga further down the pecking order. His recent opportunities on the pitch have come as a late substitute in the centre-forward spot.
A loan move away from Old Trafford will help him improve his game. Everton have been touted as one of the clubs who are eager to sign him this month.
However, his exit will only be sanctioned if Ten Hag acquires a new striker.
2) Facundo Pellistri
Pellistri is an interesting case to decipher.
He is a player who was signed a couple of years back from Penarol but is yet to debut for the United senior team despite being a regular for Uruguay.
He has 10 caps for his country and played a key role for Uruguay at the World Cup.
Ten Hag is looking for forwards who can bolster his attack but hasn’t really given Pellistri a chance to showcase what he has to offer.]
The 21-year-old will undoubtedly be looking for a move in this transfer window.
3) Axel Tuanzebe
The 25-year-old was destined to have a great future but his career at Old Trafford has failed to take off.
After spending the previous campaign at Napoli on loan, many people expected Ten Hag to utilise the defender more than his predecessors.
However, injuries have forced him to remain on the sidelines for most of the season.
He left the pre-season tour early without playing a game and has been out ever since. His agent claims that several clubs, including Watford, are interested in his services.
When fit, Tuanzebe is a real asset at the back and a loan move away looks likely.
