Tiger Woods has nowhere to hide after ‘most embarrassing moment’ of career during TGL defeat

Tiger Woods was left red-faced during his latest appearance in the TGL, with the 15-time major winner admitting that he had suffered one of the most embarrassing moments of his career

Tiger Woods experienced an ’embarrassing’ blunder during his latest TGL appearance, as the golf legend made his return to the sport.

While competing for Jupiter Links at the inventive indoor golf tournament, Woods had a distance of 199 yards to cover on the 13th hole. However, a miscommunication with his caddie led him to believe he only needed to hit 99 yards, so he picked up a wedge.

The shot by the 15-time major champion disastrously fell short as it went just 100 yards – nowhere near the green. His fellow teammates Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim couldn’t help but collapse into fits of laughter as Woods scrambled to figure out where things went awry with his caddie.

Post-match, during an ESPN interview, Woods didn’t hold back and acknowledged that the mishap ranked among the most mortifying of his extensive golfing tenure.

He chuckled: “One of the most embarrassing moments in my golfing career just happened. I just screwed up. That was embarrassing.” Woods eventually lost the hole to Cameron Young from New York Golf Club.

It was a sturdy outing for New York, who consistently led their match against Jupiter Links, ultimately winning with a commanding scoreline of 10-3. Despite the humorous episode, Woods and his Jupiter Links squad are languishing below the TGL Playoff qualification line, tied with New York Golf Club, both chasing a mere two points, giving them hope to gain on Atlanta Drive, Los Angeles, and The Bay.

This was Woods’s first show at the TGL since his mother, Kultida’s passing, a subject he noted has been a challenging grief journey. “It’s been a tough process to go through,” shared a candid Woods.

“But I’ve had amazing family support, all the players have reached out that were playing here this week. The amount of texts and emails and nice messages of support I got has really helped and it really means a lot to me.

“Mom was my rock. My dad worked at McDonnell Douglas at the time, working on the Delta rocket, and mom would take me to every junior event here in Southern California.

“She was hard on me about school, about getting good grades and doing well in school. To be honest with you, if I didn’t get any homework done I wasn’t allowed to play. So it was important that I got good grades and school came first before any sport I was playing. She meant everything to me, and losing her has been a very hard and difficult process to go through.”
