It has almost been a month since TGL launched, and well, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy could not have asked for a better start. Fans like the tech-infused league, and its viewership numbers have been good too. It seems the league is only keeping growth in mind, as one of the popular golf influencers, recently got associated with it. But what do fans think of it? They seem to be not on board.
NUCLR Golf recently took to its official X account and reported, “JUST IN: Good Good Golf has acquired an ownership stake in TGL’s LAGC with the deal said to bring new content and collaboration opportunities.” Good Good has become a leader in YouTube golf content, celebrity event series, and blending golf with pop culture. By joining forces, LAGC’s competitive edge is paired with Good Good’s digital-first approach, creating an unbeatable fan experience that aligns perfectly with TGL’s growing appeal.
“We are thrilled to welcome Good Good to the LAGC family,” said Neal Hubman, President of Los Angeles Golf Club. “Their impact on the modern golf audience is undeniable. From viral content to star-studded events, they’ve bridged the gap between golf, entertainment, and pop culture like no one else. We’re excited to work together to further provide more value to our growing community and partners. This is just the beginning.”
“Good Good has always been about pushing the game forward and making golf more engaging for the next generation of fans. Acquiring ownership in Los Angeles Golf Club is a natural step for us as we continue to grow our impact in the sport. TGL is redefining how golf is played and consumed, and we’re excited to bring our energy, creativity, and community into this new era of team golf” said Matt Kendrick, CEO of Good Good Golf.
Did you too get a Déjà Vu after reading this? For context, remember last week when Rick Shiels signed a deal and became an ambassador, and content creator for LIV Golf? Shiels is one of YouTube’s biggest golf personalities, with 2.9 million subscribers on his channel. He mixes swing tips, equipment reviews, and special features with pro golfers, making his content a go-to for golf fans.
“We will be making exclusive content for LIV Golf channels. The majority of what we produce will be sitting on my channel as well. It is very similar to the content we have made already, just better. Better production, better venues, incredible guests, some of the guests are just out of this world,” said Shiels of the content he’ll make with LIV.

From the team format to the kind of team names, and now ambassadors, TGL has only been called out time and again, for taking up notes from LIV Golf. So, how could this time be different?
The golf community calls out TGL
Good Good Golf too makes somewhat the same content online. And fans believe that this is yet another mimic of LIV Golf. One fan mocked TGL, saying, “They purchased it from the discount bin. 90% off!! 🤣”, while another disappointed LAGC fan, simply wrote, “I am officially ending my fandom with LAGC”. Interestingly, Rick Shiels is a single-entity creator online, Good Good Golf is a large golf channel that has collaborated with Rick Shiels on golf content.
TGL will enter its fourth week, and the announcement was made a few hours ahead of the fifth match, scheduled to be hosted between Boston Common Golf, and Los Angeles Golf Club. Taking to this, one of them wrote, “Week 4 and you can feel the #desperation”. But why is it so? Well, new formats in golf will stimulate excitement among the fans just for a few months. Pretty much like LIV Golf.
However, eventually, it is only the conventional format of golf that makes it through the way. And not to forget, the losses TGL has already gone through because of the disaster at the SoFi Center, and the massive cost put behind the Simulator system. It is safe to say that if the league does not gain massive popularity throughout the year, it might indeed be difficult to make it survive through another season.
One fan wrote, “I think I would have waited for the season to get further along before investing. Will the TGL be here next year?” Another fan, simply commented, “Lmao they just lost so much money.”
