Charlie Woods was in High School action on Monday as he and his Benjamin School teammates headed to a Class 1A Region 4 tournament, and the teenager is already drawing comparisons to his famous father
Charlie Woods, son of golfing legend Tiger Woods, has been compared to his 15-time major champion-winning dad by his High School coach. Charlie was back in action this week with his Benjamin School teammates at a Class 1A Region 4 tournament at Miami Shores Country Club on Monday.
The team finished second behind Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest by four shots. Tiger was present at Miami Shores, following his son throughout the 18 holes where Charlie was one of six players who shot level-par to finish in a tie for sixth.
His Benjamin School coach Toby Harbeck believes the youngster needs to relax somewhat when on the course, but can see glimpses of his golfing great dad. “He’s tough on himself,” Harbeck claimed per The Palm Beach Post.
“If he could just relax and play, store some of that energy, it’s good. He’s just young. He’s got a lot of Dad in him.”
This is quite the comparison for Charlie, who no doubt has plans to forge his own career as a professional golfer, following in the footsteps of the great Tiger. Monday’s result at Miami Shores ensured that Benjamin School Boys qualified for next week’s State Championships, a title they won with Woods Jr in the squad last year.
There is no doubt plenty of pressure on young shoulders with Charlie’s dad arguably the greatest golfer of all time. Despite this, 48 year old Tiger has previously advised his son not to model his swing on his own but rather on four-time major champion Rory McIlroy’s.

“I told [Charlie], ‘Don’t copy my swing. Copy Rory’s’. Have you ever seen Rory off balance on a shot? ” Tiger remarked in December 2022. “No. Not ever. You can swing as hard as you want, but you need to have balance. That’s one of the things my dad instilled in me, is that you should be able to balance and hold your finish until the ball rolls and stops. You can swing as hard as you want, but you need to have balance.”
Tiger is gearing up for a return to the green alongside his son in December, with the pair set to compete in the parent-child PNC Championship for the fourth consecutive year.
The event at Ritz Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, will take place two weeks after Tiger’s anticipated PGA Tour comeback at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas from December 5-8.
