PG has high praise for the Bulls’ oft-injured guard.
Despite not being able to play an NBA game since January 2022 due to a knee injury, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball still has a lot of fans, including NBA superstar Paul George. Speaking on Podcast P with Paul George, he mentioned Lonzo as one of the most talented players in the entire league, saying:
“What can’t Lonzo do?” PG said. “He can guard, he can shoot, he can [be a] playmaker, his IQ, he can rebound great for his position. What can’t Lonzo do?”
Multi-faceted guard
When healthy, Ball was a key element in the Bulls’ rise to the top of the Eastern Conference last season. Although he only played in 35 games before going down with a knee injury in a January game versus the Golden State Warriors, he showcased enough of his dynamic skills to leave a great impression on PG.
Shoot the long-ball? Lonzo shot 42% from beyond the arc in his lone season with the Bulls. Be a legit point guard? Ball dished out 5.1 assists per game. Defend? He was one of the best ballhawks in the NBA today, averaging 1.8 steals per outing before his unfortunate injury.
PG initially mentioned both Lonzo and his younger brother, LaMelo, as the two most talented guards in the NBA. However, he later placed Lonzo ahead, saying, “I think both of them have pure talent. Actually, I would say Lonzo has more pure talent than LaMelo.”
Injury-prone
What Lonzo can’t seem to do these days is stay healthy enough to play an NBA game. His time with the Bulls has so far been marked with injuries and surgeries—his latest one last month being his third with the franchise and fourth in his career. His availability remains very much in doubt next season, and it is unknown when Lonzo will be able to return to the court.
