People in Germany assume that Klopp drives a Porsche, but that’s untrue, the manager says.
“I drive an Opel. Insignia, Diesel. My partner in Germany is Opel. Another thing here…people often say I drive a Porsche, that’s not true,” Jurgen Klopp said in an interview with Soccer AM.
“I once had a Porsche and I drove it for half a year, but then I signed the contract with Opel. I left my Porsche in the garage and then got the Opel. In Germany, they always say I drive a Porsche, but that’s not true!
“You can see my car downstairs, it’s a really nice car.”
The family estate cars start from just £18,000 – you and I could afford this car too!
Klopp has had a sponsorship deal with German carmakers, Opel, since 2012, which was renewed in 2017. He has starred in 20 TV ads for the brand in that time.
The manager earns millions of pounds a year so he could have chosen any car in the world to drive – it’s telling of his down-to-earth character that he has a partnership with a car company that’s not too luxurious and expensive!
