The TV personality was featured in three consecutive SI Swimsuit Issues.
Gigi Hadid made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2014 after posing for photographer Ben Watts along the Jersey Shore. The model returned to the magazine for back-to-back features in ’15 and ’16. She traveled to Kauai, Hawai’i, with visual artist Yu Tsai and reunited with the photographer in Tahiti the following year.
In addition to SI Swimsuit, Hadid has worked with notable brands like Maybelline, Versace and Moschino. Today, the 27-year-old supermodel is a mom, as well as the founder and creative director of Guest in Residence, a luxury knitwear brand. She also serves as co-host on the second season of Netflix’s Next in Fashion reality TV show alongside Tan France.
Hadid spoke candidly about body image, how her figure has changed over the years and more with Harper’s Bazaar in 2018. She also shared her feelings about how image retouching can negatively impact people’s perceptions of what’s real versus what’s curated.
“It’s fun to try on the trends and enjoy the fantasy aspect of fashion and beauty. But my dream is for all images to have a little asterisk next to them with a caption that reads, this photo has been retouched,” Hadid stated. “Just so there’s a gentle reminder that, hey, this isn’t real life. Think of editorials or ads as a painting, an art form. I mean, that’s definitely not how we wake up looking every single day of our lives.”
