Nobody knows why Warriors swingman Andrew Wiggins has been suddenly missing from the team for several weeks. Now it appears we are finally learning more about the NBA champion’s break as he gets ready to return, which will supposedly happen within the next few days.
As reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania on Monday, Wiggins was absent due to a serious medical situation with his father.
Golden State's Andrew Wiggins plans to attend Warriors-Thunder on Tuesday. The reason for Wiggins' leave of absence since mid-February is that his father, Mitchell Wiggins, has been dealing with a serious medical situation, sources close to the situation say. 🙏🏽

Shams did not provide any further details, but he did note that the Warriors made sure to give Wiggins the space he needed to handle the crisis.

We will likely get more information from Wiggins himself when he finally makes his return, but it seems this crisis has finally been resolved, and the Warriors can look ahead to a daunting Western Conference playoff bracket.
Can Andrew Wiggins Help The Warriors Make Another Title Run?
The Warriors have had a pretty underwhelming season so far (by their standards), but it’s not even close to over. As the 6th seed in the West, they can avoid the play-in entirely if they keep their pace and finish out the season strong.
Either way, with Wiggins back in the lineup, they can beat anyone in the West regardless of the seeding. As a big part of their championship run last year, Wiggs tips the scales in their favor, and he has the chance to become a Warriors legend if they make another lengthy playoff run.
“Andre [Iguodala], Draymond [Green], Klay, Steph [Curry] — those are Warriors legends and Bay legends. Hopefully, by the time I’m done, people will look at me like that,” Wiggins said, via NBA.com. “I just have to keep putting in the work and accomplish what they have accomplished. That is a lot of motivation. They have accomplished so much while they’ve been here with all of their titles and dominating the league. I’m trying to follow what they did.”
Obviously, the Warriors are in a vulnerable position heading into the playoffs. Because of their struggles to win on the road, they will not enjoy the luxury of home-court advantage in the postseason.
Still, Dub Nation has to be feeling good about where they’re at now with Wiggins coming back, Curry healthy again, and the Western Conference in such a state of disarray.
