Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has the opportunity to join elite company if he wins another championship before it’s all said and done after winning his fifth NBA championship last season.
Whether it’s this season or next, or after, Curry’s path to becoming a 5x champion is still very much in sight and Curry himself recently spoke about that scenario in a chat with Steiny & Guru on Audacy’s 95.7 ‘The Game.’
Donovan Mitchell Wants To Play The Knicks In The NBA Playoffs: “You Wouldn’t Want It Any Other Way…”
“You definitely understand the list that it puts you in every time you get another one and understanding the historical context of it,” Curry said, via Steiny & Guru. “But the motivation is always just how much better can I get individually. It sounds cheesy as hell but it’s like literally how much better can I get, what is the challenge of this season and do we have a belief we can [win a championship], and until proven otherwise absolutely. So whatever that comes with that, it’s hopefully a potential accomplishment, and the greats that have been champions over and over and over again, the five-timer list, or whatever it is. You imagine what it would feel like. But the motivation is just always what you can do. That’s why I continue to try to play at this level and be grateful for the opportunity that even at 14 years in, that is a realistic goal.”
As a 2x MVP, 4x champion, and revolutionary player, Curry is already one of the All-Time greats, and his legacy is immortalized forever. But if he’s able to win the title again with the Warriors, it may elevate him to an entirely different level of greatness.
The question is, can the Warriors pull off another playoff run before Curry’s best days are over?
Steph Still Believes In The Warriors
Curry is as biased as anyone can be when it comes to the Warriors, but he doesn’t seem shaken by their recent struggles. Even as the losses kept piling up, Curry was leaning on the talent and experience of his group to pull through in the end. Even now, he still has faith that they can end this season as champions.
Either way, no matter what happens, Steph’s has nothing left to prove and his career is going to be celebrated by basketball fans for decades to come.
