The feud between Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas got another chapter.
The ongoing feud between basketball legends and Chicago icons Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas got another chapter after the latter expressed that the former should apologize to him publicly for the comments he made in “The Last Dance” documentary.
The Last Dance
Thomas recently made an appearance on the All the Smoke podcast with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes and essentially called out His Airness, asking him to address the comments he made in the famous “The Last Dance” documentary that aired a couple of years ago.
“You got on national television, and you called me an assh–e, and then you said you hated me,” said the two-time champion with the Detroit Pistons. “You said that on national television. Now, if you didn’t mean it, get on national television and apologize for it. Now if you meant it, let it ride as it is.”
Deep dispute
Jordan and Thomas were bitter rivals as their teams battled for supremacy in the Eastern Conference in the late 80s and early 90s. There was Jordan and the Chicago Bulls—an up-and-coming team that was trying to rise to the top—and the Detroit Pistons, an already established squad that was not willing to make room for others.
The tension between Jordan and Thomas reached a high point when the Bulls finally knocked off the Pistons with a sweep in the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals, and the fiery point guard led his team off the floor without shaking hands with Jordan’s team. Decades later, Jordan has yet to let that slight go, leading him to make these comments about Thomas:
While anything is definitely possible, it seems this feud between the two NBA legends will draw out for some time. It would be surprising if MJ even commented on it, while an apology is highly unlikely.
