Taylor Swift will be receiving a major honor ahead of her three-night run over the weekend in Arlington, Texas.
On Thursday, the city announced that the 33-year-old pop superstar — who was honored with the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards this week would be presented with a key to the city.
In a press release from the city, Arlington boasted that it was ‘participating in a friendly competition with other U.S. cities hosting The Eras Tour to demonstrate its “Reputation” as one of Swift’s biggest fans.’
It noted that Las Vegas had recently lit up its Gateway Arches in colors corresponding to different eras of Swift’s career, while also poking fun at Glendale, Arizona, for going overboard by briefly changing its name to Swift City.
Arlington hoped it had found an appropriate middle ground by renaming a street after the Anti-Hero singer.

Fans were encouraged to drop by the temporary sign for photo opportunities, as the AT&T Stadium where she will be performing is visible in the background from that location.
Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, who was described as a ‘Swiftie,’ declared it ‘Taylor Swift Weekend.’
A set of four-story steel sculptures displayed in front of city hall would also be illuminated with red light, in honor of her massively successful 2012 album, which she recently released a recorded version of.
Mayor Ross planned to be the person to present Swift with her key to the city, which he hoped she could ‘cherish “Forever & Always.”’
Arlington also detailed a plan to help cats in need of rescue, which was inspired by Taylor’s famous feline friends.
Residents of the city could adopt a cat (or any animal) from Arlington Animal Services for $40, which was ‘in honor of Swift’s 40 Top 10 Hits.’
Animals that had been in the shelter for an extended time or were elderly could be adopted for just $9, ‘in honor of Swift’s 9 No. 1 Hits.’

Eye-catching: Taylor stunned in a one-piece bodysuit covered in sparkling sequins and featuring a hood
Taylor’s triumphant tour stop in Arlington comes just days after she was honored with the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday.
While accepting the award, the singer–songwriter spoke about her desire to try new things rather than focusing on making tried-and-true music.
She also said part of her secret was giving herself ‘permission to fail’ as she tried to shake up her career.
Taylor concluded by noting that she gives herself permission to fail, and she urged her fans to give themselves that same permission.
