“Beneil Dariush Weighs in on Conor McGregor’s Eligibility to Compete, Speculating Whether the Former Champion is Cheating by Withdrawing from USADA Pool, Amidst Growing Attention Surrounding His Upcoming Return to the Octagon”
Conor McGregor is expected to make his octagon return in 2023, following the conclusion of the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). The Irishman is expected to face his rival coach Michael Chandler later this year if he is given the green light by USADA.
McGregor suffered a broken leg in his last bout, a second loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. ‘The Notorious’ subsequently withdrew from USADA testing to recover from the injury.
While the protocol stipulates that McGregor must remain in the testing pool for six months and submit two clean samples, ‘The Notorious’ has disregarded the regulations. This has led fight fans and fighters to believe that Conor McGregor is cheating.
UFC lightweight contender Beneil Dariush recently elaborated on how McGregor could have legally recovered from his injury by receiving a “therapeutic expemption” from USADA.
Clearly, McGregor was not amused by Dariush’s remarks and fired back with an angry tweet:
“Beneil “the douche” Dariush.”

Conor McGregor cheating: What did UFC president Dana White say about the situation?
Conor McGregor lambasted USADA earlier this month after saying he had contacted them and scheduled a meeting to discuss his return to competition.
In a swift response, USADA denied McGregor’s claim, stating they were unaware of his decision to return to competition. McGregor took to Twitter right away to insist that he has never been caught doping. Further, he criticized USADA, labeling it a “garbage organization.”
UFC president Dana White responded to McGregor’s Twitter outburst during the UFC 286 post-fight press conference, stating:
“Have you ever heard of [UFC Senior VP of Athlete Health and Performance] Jeff Novitzky? Ask him these questions. I don’t give a s*** about any of that stuff anymore. That’s his problem. I don’t get involved in the drug testing situation whatsoever. I know nothing about it, and I don’t want to know nothing about it. I leave it to the expert. He’s the expert in this thing, and you guys call him and interview him anytime about it.”
