He told SY Football: “In ten years hopefully I will be playing in the Premier League for Man United… that’s where I see myself but I’ve got to make it happen with the hard work and everything behind the scenes.”

Kai also revealed that his dad is his biggest inspiration, adding: “I know it’s a a bit boring but probably my dad as he’s helped me though some of the hard times and taught me a lot about the game, even just being in the car listening to him as a manager talking to all the players.”

Rooney joined Man Utd in 2004 and spent 13 years at Old Trafford.

He is still the club’s all-time top scorer, having scored 253 goals in 559 appearances.

Despite his dad’s incredible Man Utd legacy, Rooney’s son does not actually support the Red Devils.

Instead, he supports Everton.

Kai added: “I support Everton. I know people might expect me to support Man Utd but it’s my dad’s team and I am from there.

“I have a love for Man Utd as well but my team is Everton.”

Rooney kicked off his glittering career with the Toffees in 2004 after graduating from the club’s academy.

He returned to Goodison Park after leaving United in 2017.

The 37-year-old is now managing DC United in the MLS.
