Cristiano Ronaldo entered Manchester United’s all-time best XI voted by artificial intelligence. But there are some famous names that have been eliminated.
The ChatGPT system was asked to select the best players from the club’s rich history. And it includes members of the Busby Babes, Class 92, the 1999 treble winners and the 2008 Champions League winners, but there’s no room for anyone in the current Old Trafford squad.
It’s no surprise that Peter Schmeichel has been given the spot by the AI machine as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, let alone for Manchester United.
Gary Neville takes over at right-back after making 602 appearances for the Reds during his club career. The academy star has won 17 major trophies with United, including eight Premier League titles.
The central defender pair is a familiar duo with Nemanja Vidic partnering with Rio Ferdinand. The two giant defenders together achieved a lot of success and formed the foundation for the team that won the 2008 Champions League.
The last man in the defense is Denis Irwin. The Irish left-back spent 12 trophy-laden seasons at Old Trafford and his time with the team coincided with arguably the greatest era in the club’s history.
Roy Keane certainly has a place in midfield. The influential captain has led the team to a lot of success and always demands a lot from his teammates – but has the qualities to run a performance in midfield.
He played alongside Paul Scholes in the iconic squad – dubbed by many as the most technically gifted player to ever play at Old Trafford. Scholes’ vision and passing ability was greatly appreciated and he was one of the few to win the Champions League in 1999 and 2008.
The attack quartet that ChatGPT launched is really impressive. A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo developed into one of the best players in the world during his first spell at Manchester United before returning with an emotional but ultimately unsuccessful comeback. , which ended with him being fired in November.
On the other side was none other than George Best, the Northern Irishman who lit up Old Trafford from 1963 to 1974 with his extraordinary ability and great personality. He won the epic C1 Cup in 1968, scored the winning goal in extra time, and will forever be considered a Manchester United legend.
Another United legend is Bobby Charlton, who captained the team and scored twice in a 4-1 win over Benfica at Wembley. The 1966 World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner was United’s record goalscorer with 249 goals until surpassed by Wayne Rooney.
Last on the team’s list is Eric Cantona, the French striker known for his superhuman talent and winning spirit to match.
However, the all-star lineup leaves no room for many Red Devils legends. They are Rooney, David Beckham, Bryan Robson and Ryan Giggs, Duncan Edwards, Denis Law, Billy Foulkes and Jaap Stam.
