The Oscars 2023 are approaching and it is inevitable that we remember last year’s gala, one of the most controversial events of the year because of the slap Will Smith gave presenter Chris Rock when he made a bad joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Now, almost a year later, the memories of that moment are coming back, although the actor is banned from the awards until further notice. In fact, Chris Rock will finally talk about the slap via a Netflix stand up special. The show, titled ‘Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,’ will be the platform’s first live stream on March 4.
Will Smith’s radical physical change
However, what has really been in the news is Will’s new movie and his dramatic physical change. The film is the drama ‘Emancipation’, about slavery in the United States and was released in the U.S. in December 2022 and now it will be the turn of the rest of the world in the coming months, only on Apple TV.
The photos and the official trailer show a very faded Will Smith, the work of makeup and the fiction of which he is the main protagonist. He appears with a bulging beard, although without a mustache, wounds all over his body and much thinner than usual, as well as gray hair.
New projects in 2023
But, apart from ‘Emancipation’, Will Smith will also bring other new projects to his fans in 2023. Last December, Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the ‘Bad Boys’ franchise, clearly said that ‘Bad Boys 4’ would be made and that the controversies that arose after Will Smith’s slapping of Chris Rock at the Oscars would not affect the project in the slightest. That has proved true with Sony, along with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, officially announcing the new installment of the saga in January.
