Henry Cavill starred in Man of Steel and started a period of all-time glory in his career. Snyder managed to add a detail that paid homage to the older movies. There is seemingly a scene that only a few fans were able to notice. The scene shows a transition of Cavill’s face turning into Christopher Reeve’s as he flies at lightning speed.

Knowing that there would never be a sequel for it nor would the actor ever return to the franchise breaks the hearts of the fans. However, perhaps the new Superman could pay homage to Cavill’s version of the hero.
