Tottenham’s record signing Richarlison has been labelled a ‘flop’ as he remains goalless in the Premier League.
Spurs were dealt a damaging defeat by Wolves who won 1-0 in the Premier League courtesy of a late Adama Traore winner.
Richarlison was back on the bench
Last time out they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Sheffield United, and the club appear to be back in the doldrums with their top four spot under threat.
Heung-min Son returned to the line-up having been benched for a number of games, with Richarlson making way for him.
However, that wasn’t the worst of it for the £60million record signing from Everton, who had to wait his turn before coming on.
Fellow Brazilians Lucas Moura and Emerson Royal were seen as better options to try and take something from the game, with Richarlison the third sub of the match, entering in the 85th minute.
The 25-year-old has featured in 17 out of a possible 26 league games this season, registering two assists, but he’s yet to score a goal.
Discussing his lack of production, former Aston Villa striker and talkSPORT host, Gabby Agbonlahor questioned Spurs breaking the bank for the Brazilian.
Richarlison couldn’t do anything about the defeat in his late cameo
“I look at Lucas Moura getting brought on before Richarlison, what does that say about how much of a flop he is?” he said.
“In the World Cup when he’s playing with these superstars he’s dancing round like a chicken when he scored against Korea.
Richarlison is still receiving heat for his pigeon dance at the World Cup
“He hasn’t scored a Premier League goal this season and he cost £60million! £60million!
“You had Emerson Royal and Lucas Moura come on before him today and after 83 minutes they must think to themselves, ‘alright then, get him on’.”
