Rio Ferdinand believes Marcus Rashford’s ‘terrible’ move will help the Man Utd youngster progress further

Despite his amazing run at Old Trafford this season, Man Utd icon Sir Alex Ferguson has some words of advice for current Red Devils ace Marcus Rashford.

Rio Ferdinand sends Declan Rice transfer message

Rio Ferdinand has claimed there is still plenty more to come from Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford despite his sensational form this season.

The England ace is not flawless in the eyes of the ex-United star, as Ferdinand explained how there are still some situations where Rashford makes it easy for opposition defenders. Last season was one to forget for the Red Devils ace, but he has been in remarkable form under Erik ten Hag since club football resumed after the World Cup.

United’s number 10 bagged his 13th goal in 15 outings since the World Cup against Leeds on Sunday as Ten Hag’s side secured a vital 2-0 win at Elland Road. It continued his astonishing turnaround after many feared his best days were behind him under the back end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Ferdinand has offered up some advice for the Premier League’s form player, focusing on his movement as he aims to achieve world class status sooner rather than later.

Speaking on his Vibe with FIVE podcast, Ferdinand claimed: “If I’m a defender sometimes I look at him and he can make it easy for defenders at some points in the game if he offered the threat in behind a bit more he’d get more joy to feet and become the threat in behind still.

“His decision making on whether to come long or short, if he gets that he becomes even more of a horrible player to play against.”

Rashford has already been quite the handful for opposition defenders this season, but Ferdinand feels that he needs to become more of a regular presence throughout the game instead of fleeting flashes of brilliance.

“I think there’s more of the dominace over 90 minutes that he can bring where he’s bringing other people into the game because you know he’s got the passing.

“We saw that last season, even when he was out of form there were still elements where yo were saying ‘wow’. He can produce a pass and put people through on goal of there are runners.

“Once he starts getting that synergy with other people in the team he’ll be able to pick out players more. He can take over a game.”

Rashford’s fine form needs to continue if United are to mount a serious title charge this season. The Red Devils currently sit third, just five points behind league leaders Arsenal.

However, Ten Hag’s side have played two games more than the Gunners who would extend their advantage to 11 points if they were to win both.
