Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to sign Real Madrid star

Absences no excuse for Man United not winning, says Ten Hag | Reuters

Real Madrid have let quite a few of their key players join Manchester United in recent years. Back in 2014, Angel Di Maria moved to Old Trafford, months after a Man of the Match performance in the UEFA Champions League final which brought home La Decima. Raphael Varane joined the Red Devils in 2021 and then, almost out of the blue, Casemiro last summer.

It looks like Manchester United still have their eyes on the Real Madrid squad though, as they have seen Varane and Casemiro become key players for the club. The duo have been very important to the improvement that the club have shown under the management of Erik ten Hag.

It appears that Manchester United’s next target is Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan midfielder is a regular starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

But as reported by El Nacional, Ten Hag has asked Manchester United to try their luck with Valverde. They have presented a proposal valued at €65 million.

It is very unlikely that a proposal of around €65 million would be enough to convince Real Madrid to part ways with Valverde.

We have seen Enzo Fernandez make the move to Chelsea for almost double that just recently. The Argentine might have won the World Cup, but he does not have the experience in top level European club football that Valverde does.

Also, Valverde is a key part of this Real Madrid team. He has not featured in only one game this season for the club. That’s how much Ancelotti values the Uruguayan midfielder.

Yes, it is true that Valverde is going through a bad run of form at the moment, but that does not change the fact that he is a superb player. Also, he is just 24 years of age and has a contract with Real Madrid that runs until the summer of 2027.
