N’Golo Kante’s injury news comes amid new Chelsea contract speculation

The Pride of London debate N’Golo Kante’s alleged injury news, amid speculation of a new Chelsea deal for the France international.

Nóng: Kante chia tay World Cup 2022

If you’ve read my stuff in relation to Kante, you’ll be well aware that he is one of my all-time favourite holding midfielders. At Leicester City, he was just as supreme as the east Midlands side lifted the Premier League trophy.

The now 31-year-old could still prove crucial in an important run-in for Graham Potter and his men. The experience and quality of the Frenchman wouldn’t go amiss in any lineup. That is, providing he is fighting fit and hasn’t lost too much pace and stamina.

Meanwhile, Kante is trying to regain fitness. Injury expert Ben Dinnery declared that the Blues man is doing really well in his recovery. The same outlet suggest Chelsea are ‘keen to extend the former’s expiring contract’. Evening Standard doesn’t expect a comeback to be anytime soon, however.

Benfica president Rui Costa criticises Chelsea man Enzo Fernandez

Benfica president Rui Costa slams Enzo Fernandez over Chelsea transfer | Football | Metro News

Some people just can’t let go. Others must have the last word. These dramas usually transpire either because those sensitive souls feel that they can’t afford to lose face, or due to feelings of insecurity or insignificance. One of these scenarios I’ll turn your attention to now.

Clearly Benfica didn’t want to relinquish Enzo Fernandez. Another way of viewing the transfer saga between the Portuguese and English clubs, is that the Eagles exploited the Argentine World Cup winner’s higher profile in order to extract maximum profit from a superclub. Take your pick. In actuality, the situation appears to be a combination of both narratives.

The Portugal outfit’s president, Rui Costa, essentially said he doesn’t ‘cry for players who don’t want to wear our shirt’ in reference to Enzo’s exit. A statement which is an emphatic example of sour grapes. Costa claims that the young midfielder gave his club no chance with regard to selling because the athlete ‘forced’ the move through.

Chelsea: 8 impressive stats from Enzo Fernandez's eye-catching debut

An agreement – between two teams who seem to have had a similar clash of wills to CFC and Paris Saint-Germain recently – supposedly occurred just two minutes before the transfer window closed. Despite doing his best, the Benfica chief reveals, Enzo did not wish to stay at Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
