Chris Hemsworth has spent the last year training harder than ever and putting on godlike gains for his roles in Thor: Love and Thunder, Extraction 2 and the Hulk Hogan biopic through grueling workouts and a rigorously maintained nutrition regime. But as the actor reveals in the trailer for a new Disney+ show, he has also been exploring the wider remit of what constitutes health and fitness in a bid to ensure he lives as long as he possibly can.
The teaser for Limitless With Chris Hemsworth, a six-part documentary series made in partnership with National Geographic, dropped as part of Disney+ Day, and shows Hemsworth (who hosts as well as executive producing the series) traveling all over the world to meet with longevity experts and push himself to his limits.
“Basically, I was somehow convinced to volunteer myself as a human guinea pig and endure a series of mental and physical challenges across the globe, all for the sake of science,” Hemsworth said when the series was first announced last year. “We’re hoping to shed some light on new ideas and emerging science with the focus on extending a healthy life span.”
These “mental and physical challenges” include tests of raw strength and endurance, as can be seen in short clips of Hemsworth climbing a rope over a canyon, pulling a truck, taking a freezing cold swim with endurance athlete Ross Edgley, as well as more ritualistic experiences which appear to be about fostering long-term happiness and self-acceptance.
The trailer promises that over the course of the six episodes, which will begin streaming on the Disney+ platform sometime in 2022, Hemsworth will undergo a physical and psychological “reboot” and emerge from the process as his best self.
