In a dramatic rescue, two men pulled a frightened and exhausted kangaroo to safety from the frigid waters.
After seeing the kangaroo trapped in the icy waters of Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra, David Boyd posted the rescue video on the Internet.
In the video, two men approached the scared kangaroo in the water carefully while holding out their arms and pleading with it to approach them. The young roo can be seen peering at the two men who were cautiously approaching while trembling.
The kangaroo threw its arms around in fright as soon as the man on the left reached out to grab it. Fortunately, the two men were able to seize the distressed roo and hoist it onto the promenade, where a third man was waiting to offer assistance. The third man attempted to calm it down as onlookers watched with fascination.
The kangaroo reached out its arm to one of the three men, which Mr. Boyd believed to be a gesture of appreciation. Mr. Boyd can be heard stating from behind the camera “Aw, he’s thanking ya.”
The kangaroo was in a little bit of sʜᴏᴄᴋ, according to Mr. Boyd’s post on social media, and it took the animal around 30 minutes to wake back up. Many users praised the men for diving in to save the roo.
When approached, injured, ill, or ғᴇᴀʀful kangaroos are known to act protective, which can be harmful and lead to injury. Instead of approaching the animal, people are recommended to phone authorities for help.
