Moisés Caicedo can be the perfect final transfer for Julian Ward at Liverpool. The sporting director departs at the end of the season.
Liverpool will suffer a blow at the end of this season as Julian Ward leaves the club. The sporting director only officially took the job last summer but has quickly shown his worth.
After all, he was vital in signing Cody Gakpo, Luis Díaz and Darwin Nunez. Ward also got Mohamed Salah tied down long-term and that’s only in the last 12 months. His work at Liverpool goes beyond that – and isn’t yet done.

There’s still this transfer window for him to make an impact and we’d like to see one more signing. Liverpool need strengthening right now and the ideal player could be right there for Ward.
Moisés Caicedo could be the perfect parting gift.
Julian Ward lines up final Liverpool transfer
As things stand, Gakpo will be Ward’s final Liverpool transfer. We imagine he’ll go on to be a great one – but we’d be disappointed if the Dutchman is it.
That’s not a shot at Gakpo but rather highlighting the need for a midfielder in this transfer window. Liverpool are struggling in the middle of the pitch, after all, and desperately need reinforcements.
But with Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernández likely unavailable until after Ward departs, he’d need to do something this month to have an effect. That’s why we’d like to see him go all-out for Moisés Caicedo right now.
The Ecuadorian could move for £60m, per the Mirror, and we’ve long had him down as an ideal addition. He’s young but experienced, and can contribute in both attack and defence. In a lot of ways, Caicedo is exactly the kind of midfielder Jurgen Klopp loves.

So what better parting gift? Caicedo was labelled ‘really impressive’ after just six months in the Premier League and just keeps improving. £60m could honestly look like a bargain down the line.
It’s a transfer that could help save Liverpool’s season and further Ward’s long-term legacy at the club. The perfect parting gift.
