Casemiro has been singled out by Gary Neville for already falling foul of Man Utd’s new ‘Ronaldo rule’.
Neville was responding to reports that United won’t offer any player above £200,000-per-week, to avoid a jealous culture that was created with Ronaldo’s mega-wages. And the United icon posted on Twitter: “Not sure why any radical new policy is being introduced IF new owners are imminent.”
He continued: “Capping wages is a radical policy. Rules out (Declan) Rice, (Jude) Bellingham and others in that bracket. Any new owners would probably want to enter the running for these types and probably Mbappe as well.”
Highly-sought after transfer targets such as West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham are players United may struggle to attract if they can’t compete with rivals for wage offers.
Neville then went on to aim his disagreement with the policy at Casemiro, whose wages appear to have already broken the new structure.
“Seems a strange policy when you have Casemiro, and others on 350/400k for four more years in the dressing room,” Neville added. Reports suggest United are set to slash the wages of David De Gea – who also fall foul of the rule.

Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, and Bruno Fernandes are all believed to also earn over the new £200,000 threshold.
United are looking at a cultural reset following a disastrous few years off the back of big spending – which culminated with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar left United for Al-Nassr via mutual consent following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan in November.
