LeBron James has a fairly unusual name on his track list, which every athlete has found to be the one that gets them in the zone.
The Los Angeles Lakers revealed that he listens to Beethoven prior to games to put help calm his nerves, and safe to say, it’s worked.
Speaking on ‘The Shop’, the 38-year-old spoke about the music that he listens to during his pre-game routine.
While adding that he listens to a fair bit of DMX when hitting the weight room, James also said he switches to some Beethoven to help ease the tension.
“I’m super excited when I get to the arena. I get to the arena, probably, like, five hours before the game starts. When I get there, I go right to the weight room, so then I listen to all hip-hop in the weight room. Like, I’ve been on some DMX s**t lately in the weight room. And then when I leave the weight room, I got to calm down,” James said. “And that’s when I’m listening to more, like, old-school jazz or I listen to a lot of, like, Beethoven and s**t, too.”
It’s worth noting that James’ pre-game routine showcases the discipline he’s built. The fact that he puts in the work before the actual game highlights the reason behind his consistency and longevity in the league.
LeBron James Has Been Stellar For The Los Angeles Lakers This Season
It might not be the kind of season LeBron James or the Los Angeles Lakers may have imagined, but the former has been in scintillating form averaging 29.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.
With Anthony Davis yet to take the floor after suffering a stress fracture against the Denver Nuggets, James has been pivotal for the side notching up consistent performances, the most recent of which were consecutive 40-point games against the Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets, right after he turned 38 on December 30.
Despite his stellar run, the Lakers are yet to hit the .500 mark. With conflicting developments about LA’s front office and their trade approach, it remains to be seen how much assistance James can get from the current roster till Davis returns.
