After asserting that the Memphis Grizzlies would feel at ease competing in the Western Conference playoffs this year, Ja Morant has generated a lot of buzz recently. The gifted point player has always exuded great confidence, but occasionally he goes overboard.
Love him or hate him, Ja will always speak his truth no matter who gets offended by it. When he was asked about what team would be a challenge for him and his Memphis Grizzlies, the 2022 Most Improved Player said that only the Boston Celtics would be a tough rival to beat on their way to the championship.
After being criticized for his claims, Ja doubled down on his initial comments, staying his ground against anybody and saying that the Grizzlies won’t have any issues taking on any team in the West.
Draymond Green Throws Shade At Memphis Grizzlies While Praising Ja Morant
It’s been a couple of weeks since that moment, but Draymond Green felt he needed to say something about it. After announcing his return to podcasting in a Michael Jordan style, Green talked about a variety of topics, including the Ja’s controversial comments.
The 4x NBA champion claimed that Ja is legit, but the Memphis Grizzlies are not so much, reminding him that the defending champions are still playing and they aren’t going down that easily.
"You ARE fine, Ja… the Grizzlies on the other hand…"

“I know everybody wanted to hear what I had to say about Ja’s take,” Green said. “… I got a lot of love and respect for Ja. Young leader that makes his guys believe whatever he believes. That’s a very powerful thing as a leader. He got that. Has had it since Day 1, and you can see it glaringly noticeable since the time he set foot in Memphis. I’m not sure he can quite make his guys believe that one.
“… You are fine, Ja. You are. But the Warriors (are) in the West now, champ. So yes, you are fine, Ja. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, that’s a topic for another day.”
The Memphis Grizzlies have been criticized a lot recently due to their antics on the court. They’re constantly taunting rivals and trying dirty tactics to get under their skins, which has earned them a lot of bad comments. Ja’s comments didn’t help his team, but it’s not like he cares about that too much. Still, the more they get on others’ nerves, the more hate they will get from people around the league.
