This incident undoubtedly holds a very special place in Robert Pattinson’s heart as it came up repeatedly in various of his interviews. Even during the promotion of his The Batman, he mentioned how he almost lost the movie that paved the way for his acting career.
Robert Pattinson was almost out of Twilight
The Twilight Saga franchise consists of four films and is based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer revolving around the story of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. After garnering attention in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire as the Hufflepuff leader, Cedric Diggory, The Lighthouse actor delivered an electrifying performance as the lead in 2008’s Twilight.
During his appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Pattinson opened up about how he wanted Edward Cullen to be more emo in the franchise. But the makers weren’t quite ready to accept the take on the character.
The Tenet actor specifically mentioned the scene where Edward Cullen introduced Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan to his family. Here, the actor wanted to add some realism by not talking to his co-star during this scene and being more serious:
“I always just thought at the time — I was, like, 21 — if you’re going into a relationship with someone, the way to make it really intense is if you can barely talk to each other, you can barely touch each other, and just be kind of incredibly serious all the time.”
But eventually, the makers were not convinced by Robert Pattinson‘s take on teenage romance. They were of the notion that a teen romance should be more lively instead of following a broody tone.

Further, when the host Stern asked The Devil All the Time actor if he was able to succeed in his work, he replied that it went to such an unprecedented stage that he could have been fired from the project.
“I thought I was pretty safe, and they(his manager and agent) flew up and they were like, ‘Yeah, you have to do the opposite of what you’re doing now or you’re going to get fired today’”
The actor ultimately couldn’t get what he wanted but he still admits that he went a “little bit too miserable” which according to him was wrong on his part. But it is worth to be noted that finally, Robert Pattinson got his hands on the project of his dreams in the form of Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
What is Robert Pattinson’s future in The Batman franchise?
Even though Robert Pattinson couldn’t convince the makers of Twilight, all his dreams were fulfilled when he got the chance to portray the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Reeves’ take on the character presented a beautiful dark tone and an extremely brooding Batman which was loved by both the critics as well as the audience.

Matt Reeves confirmed that he has planned for a trilogy as well as many spin-off series in his universe. It is clear that Pattinson will remain the Dark Knight for quite a long time now.
On the other hand, he is also slated to work alongside the Hulk fame Mark Ruffalo in the Parasite director Bong Joon-ho’s upcoming 2024 flick, Mickey 17.
All the movies in The Twilight Saga franchise can be streamed on Hulu, whereas The Batman can be streamed on HBO Max.
