    Tiger Woods’ son Charlie makes big move into contention at Team TaylorMade Invitiational

    It might be time to break out the “Wednesday Red” in Bowling Green, Florida.

    Charlie Woods, a rising junior at the Benjamin School and the son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, surged into contention on Tuesday at the Team TaylorMade Invitational at Streamsong Resort’s Black Course.

    Woods fired 65 (7-under) in the second round to move into a tie for second place at 9-under for the tournament, one shot back of the tournament leader. Woods tied with Canada’s Luke Smith for the tournament’s low second round score.

    Luke Colton (Frisco, Texas) leads at 10-under after shooting 67 for the second consecutive day. Jacksonville Beach’s Miles Russell, who is currently No. 1 in the AJGA boys rankings, and Port St. Lucie’s Jessy Huebner are also a shot back at 9-under.

    Woods opened his second round with a birdie on the par-5 No. 12, one of five he’d card in a bogey-free opening nine holes that vaulted him into the tournament’s top five.

    He overcame a pair of bogeys on the back nine with four more birdies, finishing with nine total for the round, to rocket into second place.

    The final round of the tournament will begin at 7:33 a.m. Wednesday with tee times off No. 1 and No. 12.Charlie Woods hole-by-hole scoring

    Charlie Woods AJGA history

    Woods is currently ranked No. 604 in the AJGA rankings based on four previous tournaments. His best finish was his most recent: tied for 25th in the prestigious Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in March.

    In late February, Woods finished tied for 52nd at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Championship.

    In 2024, Woods carded a tied for 28th-place finish at the Adam Scott Junior Championship and a tied for 240th-place finish at the 76th United States Junior Amateur Championship.

    Woods played on Benjamin’s No. 2 and 3 line last fall and finished his sophomore campaign as the No. 11 boys golfer in Florida per iWanamaker.

    In 2023, Woods was part of Benjamin boys golf’s state championship team.

    The Team TaylorMade Invitational hosted its first tournament in 2021.

    The 2022 event was hosted at the Jupiter Hills Club in Tequesta and the 2023 event was hosted at The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens.
