Tiger Woods has been more absent than present on golf courses in recent years, and all of that has of course reflected on his position on the official OWGR list. The 49-year-old golfer had Achilles tendon surgery last month, and his absence, along with previous absences, has resulted in Tiger now occupying 1341 position on the OWGR list.
It is also the lowest ranking in his career.
Fans are asking questions about his return, not knowing much about the nature of such an injury. Woods last earned OWGR points at the 2024 Masters, when he advanced to the weekend rounds at Augusta National for a record 24th consecutive time.
Although he did not excel in this competition, he left a big mark with his presence and the feat he did.
While it is difficult to give the right answer when his return is possible, experts and fans speculate that Tiger will return to golf courses in 2026.
Famous athletes with the same injury took a break from sports for about a year, before returning. The question is whether his body reacts the same way as others, considering that Woods is significantly older than those names.
Jack Nicklaus reacted
Jack Nicklaus, the golf legend, reacted to Woods’ absence during the Masters, stressing that Woods could return next year. In addition, Nicklaus added that the Tiger is hungry for the game and success, believing that his motivation for the game is still present.
“I think Tiger will get well and Tiger will be back and play. Tiger will be 50 next year. I believe he’ll probably play the Senior Tour and I believe he’ll probably dominate the Senior Tour,” Nicklaus said.
The experienced golfer admitted that he will do everything in his power to return as soon as possible, but it is clear that the years and constant games over the years have taken a toll on his body. In addition, the famous golfer had a car accident that left huge consequences on him and his body.
Hopefully, we will see Woods early next year and enjoy his performances just like before.
