‘You’re Being an A**hole’: Tiger Woods Reprimanded for Playing Cruel Joke Just Days Before the Masters

Tiger Woods shared the news about his Achilles tendon injury, an update about the surgery, and then went silent. After that, if there’s one thing driving the golf world crazy these days, it’s the “yes” or “no” answer to whether Woods will play at Augusta National. We received varied responses from everyone but every update sounded bleak until the G.O.A.T. shared an announcement with his fans. But it wasn’t what they thought it was!

You see, ahead of the Masters, Woods made this post: “I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.” Sounded promising until you looked at the date: April 1. Woods followed it with another post, saying, “P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :)” but he had already wreaked havoc.

People weren’t happy, even two days after that failed prank. Recently, the hosts sat down to discuss this situation for the 753 episode of the Fore Play Podcast Plus and had something to share with the legend. “Him kind of messing around with our emotions is something I never saw coming. ‘Cause we are so invested in this guy, and him to joke around like that, it’s pretty stunning,” shared  Frankie Borrelli. Then, Sam Riggs shared his disdain for April Fools in general, saying that it’s not fun anymore–people are sharing lies. Trent shares his bit that he knows better than to take April 1 news as seriously, however, “Tiger Woods is playing the Masters” is the one that got him. All three hosts found it funny, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t upset by its timing.

Midst the conversation, Riggs hilariously pointed out that, “If it’s just posting something like it’s just news that’s not true, that’s not April Fool. You’re just being an a**hole.” Interestingly, Golf Analyst, Jason Sobel seemed to share similar feelings with his post: “A lot to unpack here. Dude who once wouldn’t even tell us about his torn ACL and broken leg is now doing a standup routine about his Achilles, then punctuates the punchline with a smiley face. I’m gonna need a minute :)” However, the question remains: will Tiger Woods play at Augusta National, starting April 10? The answer: is no.

You can blame his injury for this. According to orthopedic surgeons, Achilles rupture needs 6-9 months of recovery time. This injury also poses doubts on his participation in the rest of the majors in 2025. However, Tiger Woods wasn’t the only golfer to have used April Fools Day as a comic relief. Bryson DeChambeau joined him.

Bryson DeChambeau shared a Tiger Woods-like April Fools joke

If there’s one thing that will always keep Bryson DeChambeau busy, it’s content. The golf world’s YouTube King released a new episode of “Break 50” featuring NFL star Matthew Stafford. As part of the promotion, he attempted an outrageous stunt: trying to catch a bullet thrown by the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. Anything could have happened. The ball could have hit DeChambeau’s chest, injuring him. But, hey, the prank wasn’t done.

Using this clip as leverage, his LIV Golf team, Crushers GC, made a post: “Bryson DeChambeau will not be playing in the 2025 Masters due to a ‘chest injury’ that occurred while playing pickup football with Super Bowl champion Matthew Stafford.” Well, folks, anything for content is the 21st-century slogan! Many fans flocked to the Crushers GC Instagram account, having fallen for the April Fools joke, and left comments like, “My heart stopped.” We haven’t received any update regarding Bryson DeChambeau’s ‘injury,’ however, fans are still hopeful that nothing bad comes their favorite’s way with the Masters so close.

A true prankster, this isn’t Bryson DeChambeau’s first rodeo when it comes to celebrating April 1st. On April 1, 2020, he had fans rolling with laughter by posting a photo of himself holding a comically oversized driver—it looked like something straight out of a cartoon! With a shaft longer than his entire body, Bryson claimed it was his “new secret weapon” for crushing drives. The club was way too big to be taken seriously! Classic Bryson?
