MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WPDE) — Tiger Woods’ son Charlie Woods is one of 90 boys and girls set to play in the 10th annual Dustin Johnson World Golf Championship this weekend in Murrells Inlet.

The 54-hole championship event is renowned for giving participants a pro-like experience.

The tournament takes its name from major winner and star professional golfer Dustin Johnson. Through the Dustin Johnson Foundation, which is headquartered in Myrtle Beach, Johnson has donated more than $500,000 to junior golf.

“I think we’re one of the top ranked junior tournaments in the country and you know we have one of the strongest fields,” Dustin Johnson said.

This year’s tournament will be headlined by Tyler Watts in the boys’ field alongside Bowen Mauss, Mason Howell, Hamilton Coleman and Sterling Hurd.

The 2023 girl’s champion Ryleigh Knaub, who also finished T2 in 2024, returns and is joined by other elite junior golfers, including Brynn Kort, Mia Hammond, Amelie Zalsman and Elizabeth Rudisill.

“All the kids that I talk to they love playing here, and you know, the team here that puts on the tournament does a great job,” Johnson said. “There are so many people involved in this event, and everyone is really proud of it.”

The vice president of the Dustin Johnson Foundation, Allen Terrell, credited Johnson’s hands-on involvement in the tournament for is rise to prominence.

“Our past fields have featured some of the rising stars in golf today and we are confident that our 2025 participants will represent the next generation of champions,” Terrell said.
