As his goalscoring heroics continue on the pitch for Bayern Munich, England captain Harry Kane has turned his attentions to his favourite pastime as he joined Justin Timberlake as an investor
England captain Harry Kane has been announced as the latest investor in the Tiger Woods’ TGL team as hailed the golf league as “something special” following his latest foray into the sport.
The Bayern Munich centre-forward’s goalscoring heroics have continued since making the move to Germany ahead of the 2023-24 season. The former Tottenham Hotspur stalwart has notched up a staggering 73 strikes in 75 appearances since making his switch to Bavaria.
As he chases Bundesliga and Champions League glory in his second season at the Allianz Arena, Kane has also turned his attentions to his famous pastime. The Three Lions skipper has made no secret of his love for golf in the past and has now been announced as a limited partner in the Jupiter Links GC team, which competes in TGL.
Legendary 15-time major winner Woods, Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Tom Kim Jupiter have be tasked with delivering results on the virtual green for Links GC since the team’s establishment. The inaugural TGL campaign got underway earlier this year, with Kane’s outfit currently sitting in fifth place in the SoFi Cup standings.
After joining pop superstar Justin Timberlake and MLB icon Mike Trout among the investors in Links GC, the ex-Spurs forward expressed his excitement as he embraced his new role with the team. He said: “I’ve always loved golf, and TGL’s new format is something special. I can’t wait to be part of this exciting journey.”
The Bayern attacker, who has a handicap of 3.7, has previously spoken about playing golf alongside American hero Woods in the Bahamas before today. Speaking on Rick Shiels Golf Show, he revealed: “I was out in the Bahamas, and a golf pro I knew casually said, ‘Oh, by the way, I’m playing with Tiger this afternoon. Want to join?’ It was one of those moments where I just thought, ‘Yeah, of course!’ It’s surreal.”

“We teed it up, and I hit a decent drive into the fairway. Tiger was walking, coming back from his injury, and I was in a buggy,” England’s all-time leading goalscorer continued, before adding: “We didn’t speak much on the course at first, but later we got chatting about family and life.
“He asked me to play 18 holes with him the next day, and it was incredible. I didn’t play great, but Tiger shot six-under. I kind of knew before anyone else did that he was back to playing really well!”
As for his own talents on the golf course, Kane revealed: “I’ve been around a four handicap for a while, but it’s hard to get lower when you don’t have the time to practise. I’m playing maybe once a month or once every six weeks, and that can be frustrating. I’m someone who wants to improve at everything, so having a bad day on the course can be pretty demoralising.”
“Footballers lend themselves to being really good golfers. The hand-eye coordination, the fitness, the strength. And there’s a competitive element too. You want to beat the other players, and it lends itself so nicely to golf.”
Divulging details about the golfing ability of Munich teammate Thomas Muller, Kane added: “Thomas Muller is obsessed with golf – probably more than me! He’s got great energy and would be a perfect addition to any golf group.”
