Tiger Woods’ quest for major victory No. 16 is off to a slow start at the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club.
At 6-over par through his first 15 holes in Thursday’s opening round, Woods is in serious danger of missing his third straight cut at a major championship.
Woods’ first-round struggles aren’t the only reason fans are talking about the 15-time major winner on Thursday, however.
Early in Tiger’s round, an Open Championship commentator made a jaw-dropping accusation about the PGA Tour golfer.
“You look at the eyes, you gotta think there’s a lot of painkillers being taken to deal with the pain,” said Sky Sports analyst Mark Roe, a former European Tour golfer.

Regardless of the intention behind the comment, many in the golf world felt the statement was, at the very least, unprofessional.

Woods, currently 10 shots behind leader Shane Lowry, will hope to finish his opening round strong on Thursday.
He’ll tee off at 4:25 a.m. ET on Friday for round two alongside Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
