“Grief is the price we pay for love.” – Queen Elizabeth II.
Tiger Woods has been grieving. The loss of his beloved mother, Kultida Woods has broken the golf legend. Woods announced his mother’s passing with a beautiful eulogy that simply ended with, “Love you Mom”. One can imagine that he had a lot more to say considering how close he was to his mother.
But the GOAT wiped off his tears and took a strong stand. A few days later, he announced that he would be participating in the upcoming Genesis Invitational. Perhaps, for a moment, he thought that getting back on the course would help him battle the despair, sorrow, and disbelief. Fans cheered him as someone also said, “Win for Kultida”. Everyone wanted Woods to go all in at the Signature event and win it for his mom. But it seems that the grief has overcome his spirit and made him change his mind.
A few minutes ago, the GOAT announced that he wouldn’t be participating in the 2025 Genesis Invitational. Tiger Woods confirmed that he withdrew from the event because he was “still processing a loss.” And with a sad goodbye, that chapter has now closed.
I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss.
Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued… pic.twitter.com/HP45Tla3QQ

Fans console a fallen Tiger Woods
The entire golf community sympathized with Tiger Woods who is gravely suffering from his mother’s loss. One of them said, “You owe no one anything. Mom’s are the Friggin best. Take the time you need”. They believe it is more important for Woods to recover from the loss than for them to watch him play again. Another also shared their prayers for the GOAT, “Take your time, Tiger. We all understand. This one will hurt for a bit. God be with you and your family, dude…” They seem to understand that Tiger Woods is suffering a lot and fans shouldn’t expect to see him back on the course so soon.
