Tiger Woods is doing YouTube! The GOAT has been in the headlines for the past couple of months due to various reasons. But his most recent appearance on Grant Horvat’s YouTube channel perhaps takes the cake. Yes, Tiger Woods is now doing YouTube to promote TGL!
But the topic of discussion was not his & Rory McIlroy’s next-gen golf venture this time around. It was the 82x PGAT winner’s son, Charlie Woods. The young protege has received a lot of attention ever since he hit that beautiful ace on the 4th hole in the 2024 PNC Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
Horvat mentioned how quickly Charlie has grown up in age and in his strokeplay. To which senior Woods replied, “He was on the thicker side,” explaining how his son was on the healthier side some time ago. He further added, “Now he’s going this way,” indicating that Charlie Woods is getting taller now.
Still surprised about the 16-year-old’s progression, Horvat said, “Yeah, and he’s hitting it so far now,” talking about the driving capability of Charlie Woods. Speaking about the changes Tiger Woods‘s son has brought to his game, the YouTube golfer added, “He put that Tour AD in, that red Tour AD,” speaking about the new shaft that he is using with his driver; Graphite Design Tour AD VF 6 TX in red color.
Horvat mentioned how the “dispersion” of the shaft is so much better to which Tiger Woods mentioned that it is a lot “tighter.” The duo is talking about how a tighter shaft is allowing Charlie Woods to hit the ball much more firmly and helps him gain distance off his drive.
Charlie Woods’s performances in 2024
Being from the Woods family puts a lot of responsibilities on the 16-year-old’s young shoulders. However, he seems to be matching the expectations with his brilliant and consistent performances. In 2024, Charlie had an incredible individual season securing a few top finishes and 1 win at the junior level. Moreover, he also helped his school team, the Benjamin Buccaneers win the District Championship last year.
But his best performance was definitely at the 2024 PNC Championship. Apart from the miracle ace in the 2nd round of the tournament, Woods consistently showed excellence in strokeplay and helped team Woods overcome nearly every challenger. Even during the last few minutes of the event, Charlie Woods managed to nearly score an eagle of his own in the Playoff round which would have matched Bernhard Langer’s score a few minutes later. The beautifully paced ball skimmed off the hole and got redirected away from it in the end. He is already showing signs of being a great player in the future.
