Charlie Woods has a long way to go if he is to match his father Tiger’s achievements in golf, but the 15-year-old has already set his sights on one major prize

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as Charlie Woods sets his sights on making his own mark in golf history.

The son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods made waves recently at the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida, sinking his first hole-in-one just before Christmas and receiving cheers from his proud father.

But the young Woods isn’t resting on his laurels – he’s got his eye on a future filled with more than celebratory milestones. The 15 year old made headlines earlier in 2024 when he emphatically stated his objective: not just to compete but to conquer.

He went further, declaring his dream to one day lift the US Open trophy: “I want to win USGA Championships and hopefully one day the US Open.”

These ambitions reveal a chip off the old block mentality, as he aims for an achievement that resonates deeply with the Woods’ family legacy—Tiger Woods himself has triumphed at the US Open three times.

Charlie, with such determination, may very well be following in the footsteps of greatness.

Tiger Woods, who won the award in 2000, 2002 and 2008, saw his on-course performances suffer following personal scandals.

His major victories began to decline after revelations of infidelity emerged shortly after the birth of his son Charlie in February 2009 to Swedish model and ex-wife Elin Nordegren.

The youngest Woods has a challenging journey ahead if he hopes to match his father’s golfing success. Tiger was only 20 when he turned professional in 1996, and it took him less than a year to secure his first major victory.

This sets a high standard for his son as he aims to make his own impact on the sport. However, it’s clear that Charlie is not short on ambition as he strives to become a legend in his own right.
