Charlie Woods secured his first ever hole in one at the PNC Championship in front of his father Tiger Woods with the pair sharing a huge hug when the news filtered through

Charlie Woods fired in his first-ever hole in one in front of dad Tiger Woods during the final round of the PNC Championship.

The 15-time Major winner was playing with his son in the Orlando sun. The duo are in the hunt to take the title and received a huge boost courtesy of the 15-year-old hitting an ace on the par-3 fourth with a 7-iron from 175 yards out.

Charlie struck an impressive approach and was clearly unsure whether his shot had gone all the way in amid the cheers from the green. News quickly filtered back that he had secured himself an eagle with his father alongside him.

Both men are wearing red, which was a staple throughout Tiger’s career on the final day of a tournament. Charlie’s father gave him a huge hug with the adrenaline pumping before giving him a shove as they walked up the fairway towards the fifth hole.

Charlie was interviewed en route and said: “It was a perfect seven iron so I just had to hit it. 175, little down off the left, low cut seven. It was awesome. I didn’t think it went in – I don’t believe anyone until I go up there and see it.”

The Woods are trying to win this event for the first time, with their best finish coming in 2021 when they were second to the Dalys. Currently their hottest competition is the Singhs and the Langers.

In the penultimate round, they produced a stellar 13-under-par 59 at Florida’s Ritz Carlton Golf Club in round one. Team Woods went bogey-free and made 13 birdies, putting them in a prime position to clinch the championship on Sunday.

This marks the fifth consecutive PNC Championship for Team Woods, and playing alongside his son is clearly significant for Tiger, who referred to the 36-hole tournament as his ‘fifth major’ at this summer’s Open Championship.

There is no doubt having arguably the greatest golfer of all time comes with added pressure on the shoulders on the youngster. Despite this, the 15-time major champion believes Charlie is handling all of the added attention well.

“He’s playing golf with us, and then playing the high school matches,” claimed Tiger. “The type of attention is very different than what I had. We didn’t have social media. We didn’t have camera phones. We didn’t have any of that. It was kind of hearsay amongst neighbours. It was a different time and era.”
