Andy Ogletree shared the course with Tiger Woods at the 2020 Masters at Augusta National, and he has since revealed a hilarious encounter with the golfing great which left him flabbergasted
LIV Golf star Andy Ogletree has shared a conversation with Tiger Woods which showed the superstar’s true colours.
The 26-year-old is currently tearing up the course with HyFlyers GC alongside Phil Mickelson, Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale, having joined the Saudi-backed LIV circuit earlier this year, after impressing on the Asian Tour last year. However, it was at the 2020 Masters where he first met Woods and had shared a conversation which left him slightly bemused.
Speaking on the Fairway To Heaven podcast, Ogletree said: “It was November Masters – no fans, just me and Tiger – and we’d teed off down 10. We’d both hit the fairway and I could tell he was walking over towards me and gonna say something to me. He walks over and we had just had a rain delay that morning.
“He was like ‘man, wouldn’t it be fun just to get a running start and slide down this hill?’ I was like, ‘what?!’ And I just started laughing. I was like, ‘man, that was interesting’, and so I kind of gave him some s*** back right? And he thought that was hilarious.
“From then, on he was super nice to me and talked a lot. Joe Lacava was on the bag for him and he was pretty helpful as well – just kind of telling us, you know, what to do and when to talk and stuff like that. I settled in, played some good golf – made the cut and ended up getting low amateur that week.
“This was the year that Tiger made a 10 on 12, and after you finished they took me to a cabin right beside Butler Cabin – you were able to have your family there and kind of debrief on the week. So we were all in there talking and didn’t really know what was going on, and they take me to Butler Cabin and someone slaps me on the back.

“And I turn around and it’s Tiger and he’s like, ‘congrats man’, and it was really cool. We got to talk and stuff and he was like, ‘how’d it go?’ And I was like golf talk, ‘I missed a few puts and I felt like I should have played better’, whatever, like everyone says right? I was like, ‘how’d it go for you?’ And I was like, ‘oh crap’.
“He was like, ‘oh you haven’t heard?’ So I just completely played it off. I’m like, ‘heard what?’ And he’s like, ‘bro, I made a 10 on 12’. I was like, ‘a 10?!’ He went through every shot – and I’m like, ‘I know what you did, I’ve already seen it on the TV’, but I just completely put my foot in my mouth asked Tiger Woods how he made a 10.”
Woods’ 10 stroke score on Augusta National’s par three 12th is undoubtedly one of the worst holes he has ever completed in his entire professional career. An eight-iron off the tee hit the green before spinning back into the water, before a drop shot from the other side of the drink ended in similar fashion.

His fifth shot cleared the green and ended up in the hole’s back-right bunker, before a bladed ball on his sixth skimmed across the green and back into Rae’s Creek. A penalty shot from the sand finally found its way onto the green, with Woods two-putting for 10. Well out of contention, Woods finished at T38 alongside Lee Westwood and Tony Finau among others with a score of -1.
Ogletree, meanwhile, finished at T34 with a score of -2 alongside Adam Scott, Bryson DeChambeau, and Si Woo Kim. In stark contrast, Dustin Johnson won the competition that year with an overall score of -20, five strokes under T2 Cameron Smith and Sungjae Im.
