The actress will be part of a Ben Affleck-produced sports drama about champion Anthony Robles
Ben Affleck, in his role as producer, has hired his wife, Jennifer Lopez, for his next film, ‘Unstoppable’.
The film will be shot under the auspices of Artists Equity, a production company headed by him and fellow Oscar winner and friend of the actor, Matt Damon.
‘Unstoppable’ will be the second film from the production house, following the biographical sports drama ‘Air’, about the origin of NBA legend Michael Jordan‘s sneaker brand, which will be released in theaters on April 5, 2023.
According to Deadline, the film ‘Unstoppable’ is the true story of Anthony Robles, an All-American wrestler who won a national championship as a student at Arizona State despite being born with only one leg.
The film will be an adaptation of Robles‘ 2012 memoir, ‘Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion’.
It will be directed by William Goldenberg, Oscar winner for Best Editing with ‘Argo’, a film directed by and starring Ben Affleck.
Jennifer Lopez continues to star in the film world
Ben Affleck himself revealed that his wife JLo had contributed to the script of the film ‘Air’ and was amazed with her talent.
“My God, she’s brilliant. She has an incredible understanding of how fashion evolves through culture as a confluence of music, sports, entertainment and dance,” the actor and filmmaker told ‘The Hollywood Reporter’.
This year, Jennifer Lopez appeared in Amazon Studios’ action romantic comedy ‘Shotgun Wedding’ and her next film is ‘The Mother’, which will premiere on Netflix on May 12, where she plays an assassin who comes out of hiding to protect her estranged daughter.
Who is JLo’s wrestling movie about?
Jennifer Lopez‘s new film tells the story of Anthony Robles, a man who started wrestling in eighth grade.
During his junior and senior years at Mesa High School in Arizona, he went undefeated, 96-0, and won the national championship in his senior year.
At Arizona State, he was named an All-American during his sophomore, junior and senior years.
As a senior in 2011, he went undefeated, 36-0, and won a collegiate national championship, defeating defending national champion Matt McDonough.
harrel Jerome, the Emmy-winning actor from ‘Moonlight,’ will play the role of Robles, starring in ‘Unstoppable,’ the film starring Jennifer Lopez and directed by Billy Goldenberg.
Robles is currently a motivational speaker and wrestling commentator and also the founder of ‘The Robles Unstoppable Foundation,’ which helps underprivileged high school athletes raise funds to support their academic and athletic endeavors.
