A WO volunteer with the Save Elephant Foundation recently had the opportunity to help Sook Jai, a 73-year-old captive elephant. The gentle giant had spent a significant amount of time in captivity. Unfortunately, she was mistreated by all of her previous owners.
Sook Jai was made to perform numerous other chores in addition to his duty as a tourist ride. But as she grew older, she developed health problems. As a result, the poor elephant ʟᴏsᴛ most of his hearing and was blind. Thankfully, Sook Jai was saved by volunteers from the Save Elephant Foundation in Tʜᴀɪʟᴀɴᴅ. But when she was saved, the poor animal was covered with wounds all over her body and head.
Once everything had been resolved, a team of volunteers went to pick up Sook Jai. The elephant would have a difficult voyage because she would have to drive for 20 hours to get to her new home. However, the rescuers made sure to provide Sook Jai with comfort throughout the journey.
The elephant was starving, but she refused to eat since she was so worn out and overworked. When it was cold at night, the rescuers helped her stay warm and cooled her body temperature when it was warm outside.
Never before had Sook Jai experienced such love, and at one point she became so moved that she started crying. The sad elephant finally realized that she was liberated. Sook Jai and the volunteers arrived at the sanctuary after a difficult journey. Being at home made the elephant happy.
