Marcel Sabitzer may have played his last game for Man United after he is RULED OUT of their final four matches with a knee injury

Marcel Sabitzer may have played his last game for Manchester United again after the Austria midfielder was ruled out of the club’s final four matches of the season with a knee cartilage problem.

Sabitzer joined United on loan from Bayern Munich in January, and sources say that a decision has not been taken over whether to make the move permanent.

The two clubs will liaise over the 29-year-old’s treatment and rehabilitation.

United are expected to be in the market for a new central midfielder this summer having previously been linked with Frenkie De Jong, Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.

Sabitzer has impressed on his 18 appearances, scoring three goals, but he will now miss United’s remaining three Premier League games against Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham as well as the FA Cup final clash with Manchester City.

It is understood a decision is yet to be taken over whether to make his loan move permanent

A United statement read: ‘Marcel Sabitzer has suffered a meniscal (knee) injury which will unfortunately rule him out for the rest of the season.

‘Marcel has played an important role in the second half of our 2022-23 campaign, with 18 appearances and three goals since joining the club on loan from Bayern Munich in January.

‘He won a Carabao Cup winners’ medal after featuring in our victory over Newcastle United in February, and also played in our FA Cup semi-final win over Brighton at Wembley, scoring in the penalty shootout which secured our place in the final.

‘Everyone at the club is disappointed to lose Marcel’s services, as we strive for a strong finish to our season in the Premier League and the FA Cup – and we appreciate his contribution to our progress so far.’
