Coralie Day, who calls herself a “second mother” to the Oxford student, is “thrilled to bits” that they are dating
It looks as if Emma Watson has already gotten the seal of approval from the family of her new boyfriend, Matt Janney.
In an interview with the Evening Standard, Coralie Day, who became the Oxford University rugby player’s “second mother” after both his parents passed away when he was a child, says, “We are thrilled to bits that he is seeing Emma Watson. We are looking forward to meeting her soon.”
She added, “Hats off to her for finding such a wonderful young man. There is nothing bad anyone could say about Matt. He is absolutely lovely.”
Day and her husband, James, became Janney’s unofficial guardians after his mother Jill died from breast cancer in 2008 when Janney was 16. His father had passed away from cancer when he was a toddler.
“After Matt’s mum died I became his second mother,” Day said. “I took him up to Oxford when he started there. I am very proud of him.”
She noted that Janney was “excited” when he told his family the news about his relationship with the 23-year-old Harry Potter star.
The two reportedly began seeing each other after 21-year-old Janney played in an annual varsity rugby match between Oxford and Cambridge at Twickenham Stadium in London on Dec. 12. Watson, who attended the university for one year, was seen in the stands cheering on Janney as he helped guide his team to a 33-15 victory. She then attended the post-match victory party at the Ping bar in London’s Earl’s Court.
Watson and Janney were photographed enjoying a PDA-filled trip to a Caribbean beach on Monday, Jan. 6.
