Ever since Game 1 of the Phoenix Suns opening round series, Kevin Durant has been breaking in a Triple-Black version of his upcoming Nike KD 16. Pouring in 31 points alongside Devin Booker’s 47-piece to advance past the Clippers to the Western Conference Semi-Finals, the two-time Champion elected Game 5 for a switch-up in colorways as he broke out an all-new “Team Red” anchored option.
Inspired by the Beaverton brand’s yearly high school summer basketball tournament for New York City’s five boroughs, the “NY vs. NY” scheme of the KD 16 comes cured in a dominant burgundy tone while a slightly darker shade envelops the mid-foot TPU overlay and midsole. Injecting a neutral departure with cream-colored mesh collars, laces and outsoles underfoot, the unreleased proposition elects for a golden metallic finish lining the trim of the nubuck overlay, NY vs. NY tongue tab, the heel’s symmetrical Swooshes and “EASY” medallion for a premium conclusion to the silhouette expected to be seen throughout City Parks over the next few months.
Potentially coinciding its release with the tournament’s mid-August ending, in the meantime enjoy a first look at the Nike KD 16 “NY vs. NY” below while we await to see further color blockings throughout the Suns 2nd round series against the Denver Nuggets.
For more unreleased signature silhouettes, the Nike Zoom Freak 5 recently surfaced in a pitch-dark mix of “Black/Green/Purple”.
