Easily the biggest name to ever come out of the world of professional wrestling, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the definition of a household name nowadays. After going to Hollywood in favor of WWE, The Rock has taken the acting world by storm as one of the biggest actors in the world today. One thing that fans may be surprised to learn is that The Rock has a strong connection to one of the current heads of WWE, someone who was never in power or with the company during his own tenure in the Sports Entertainment giant. For those unaware, Dwayne Johnson has a very strong relationship with current WWE CEO, Nick Khan.
Nick Khan & Dwayne Johnson Have Been Friends Since Childhood
Despite The Rock leaving full-time wrestling action in the 2000s, as he would move onto his Hollywood dream, leading to him becoming a true megastar of epic proportions, the former WWE star has ties to one of the current heads of the company. While their paths would never cross during Dwayne’s time playing The Rock in WWE, their lives have been tied to one another since their youth. As Dwayne Johnson shared with his fans on Instagram, he has somewhat shockingly been great friends with current WWE CEO Nick Khan since the two men were just children.
Sharing a post on his Instagram in December 2021, The Rock posted a picture of himself, Nick Khan, and his sister at dinner together, with the caption stating, “In the mid 1980’s, Nick Khan, his sister Nahnatchka Khan and myself used to run around as kids in Honolulu, Hawaii every month when my grandmother would promote at the local arena her monthly pro wrestling shows. As kids we LOVED the pro wrestling business and as adults, our love and respect for the wrestling business has become boundless. Now years later….Nick is WWE PRESIDENT.”
The Rock Is Also Close With Nick Khan’s Sister, Who Created The ‘Young Rock’ TV Show
Aside from his evident friendship with the current WWE CEO, Dwayne Johnson’s friendship with Nahnatchka Khan, Nick’s sister, has extended into a proper working relationship. With the Young Rock TV show currently running on NBC, the show is a look back through the life and career of Dwayne Johnson, showing his start in the wrestling business. For those who do not know, the creator and show runner of Young Rock is none other than Nahnatchka Khan. Through his longtime relationship with both Nick and Nahnatchka Khan, The Rock has been able to create a new biopic-style look at his life, with him even offering heavy praise for her, stating on social media, “Nahnatchka is one of the best TV show runners in Hollywood and the CREATOR OF YOUNG ROCK ~ our award winning TV series on NBC, based on my wild upbringing in the world of pro wrestling”.
While wrestling fans may not love all that Nick Khan has done since coming to power in WWE alongside Vince McMahon, it remains an interesting tidbit that he has such a strong, close, long-lasting friendship with the biggest name to ever come out of WWE. Should The Rock return to WWE in 2023, it will be the first time he and Nick Khan get to work in the same company together.
