Chris Hemsworth re-ignited the long-running “Battle of the Chrises” when he posted a celebratory 40th birthday picture for fellow Avengers actor Chris Evans.
The Thor star’s Instagram tribute to Captain America was a little off, considering that another Chris was pictured next to Hemsworth — Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Chris Pratt.
“Happy 40th birthday Chris Evans, you’ll always be number 1 in my book 🎉🎉 @chrisevans,” Hemsworth wrote, tagging Evans in the post. The photo appears to be a behind-the-scenes shot from the set of upcoming film Thor: Love And Thunder, which recently finished shooting. Both Hemsworth, 37, and Pratt, 41, are reprising their roles in the Marvel film directed by Taika Waititi.
Hemsworth’s birthday post reawakened the long-simmering tension over who the greatest Chris in Hollywood is: between Hemsworth, Evans, Pratt and Star Trek actor Chris Pine.
Back in January, the “Battle of the Chrises” took a new turn when Pratt’s father-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger mistakenly referred to him as Evans during an Instagram charity event hosted by Pratt.
Schwarzenegger said in the IGTV(01:12:00), “Hello, Chris Evans, oh not Chris Evans, sorry, I’m going to screw up this whole thing right from the beginning. Chris Pratt. I didn’t look at the cue cards the right way. Sorry about that. I should know your name. That’s for sure. My favorite son-in-law.
“I’m your only son-in-law! I better be your favorite,” Pratt replied laughing.
Per USA Today, the battle was seemingly over in 2018 when Hemsworth and Pratt teamed up to push Evans out of the running. “They need to stop bringing Chris Evans into the discussion,” Hemsworth said.
Pratt added, “I think at the end of the day, it’s a 50/50 tie. I love America, but we have a captain already.”
“His name is Chris Evans and it just really makes me mad,” said Hemsworth.
