Boa Hancock is a powerful character with a lot of potential, and hidden abilities.
Boa Hancock is one of the most important characters in One Piece, now more so than ever before. She is one of the former Seven Warlords of the Sea and was introduced to the fans during the Amazon Lily arc, when Luffy was sent by Kuma to her island. Hancock was soon revealed to be the pirate captain of the Kuja Pirates as well as the Empress of Amazon Lily.
Her island is an island of female warriors who are known to be exceptionally powerful. Not long after her introduction, it was established that Boa Hancock is an exceptionally capable woman and an extremely dangerous pirate. Fans have already seen a demonstration of her incredible powers in the story, however, there is much more to her than just what the fans have seen so far.
Hancock’s Devil Fruit Powers
A big portion of Hancock’s powers come from her Devil Fruit which is known as the Mero Mero no Mi, or the Love Love Fruit. This fruit has great significance for Hancock’s character as it was force-fed to her when she was a slave of the Celestial Dragons, meant for their entertainment. After she broke free, she made these powers hers fully and used them as her strength. The powers of the Mero Mero no Mi allow Boa Hancock to petrify those who lust after her or are attracted to her in other ways, regardless of their gender. Hancock mostly uses the Love Love Beam or the Mero Mero Mellow to petrify those who are attracted to her within a matter of seconds.
This petrification is instantaneous and cannot be broken free of, unless Hancock undoes it herself. What’s more, the true fright of this Devil Fruit comes from the fact that it can also petrify inanimate objects if she so wishes. Things such as cannonballs or Pacifistas, or even people who are not attracted to her can be turned into stone with abilities such as Perfume Femur, Slave Arrow, and Pistol Kiss, among other abilities. Clearly, the full potential of her Devil Fruit has not been revealed yet, however, this fruit is so overpowered that Blackbeard himself came to Amazon Lily to steal it and was met with incredible resistance as Hancock turned her entire accompanying crew to stone within a matter of seconds, including two of the 10 Titanic Captains.
Why Hancock Has Special Powers
While the powers of the Mero Mero no Mi already make her an incredibly powerful woman, they are, most likely, not her strongest asset. It must be remembered that Boa Hancock’s true strength comes from her beauty and, on Amazon Lily, physical power is considered to be true beauty. The stronger a person is, the more beautiful they are considered to be. As such, Hancock’s true power lies in her physical prowess. As a member of the Kuja, Hancock is a capable user of Haki. This power is not special at all on Amazon Lily as everyone is able to wield it. It is almost as if Haki comes naturally to them, whereas other people have to train themselves to awaken this power.
Even the weakest of warriors on Amazon Lily are capable Haki users. Hancock, being the strongest, naturally, has the strongest Haki on the island. Hancock’s sisters, Boa Marigold and Boa Sandersonia are also very capable Haki users. Boa Marigold is a user of Ryuo, which is an advanced form of the Color of Arms Haki. Meanwhile, Boa Sandersonia has excellent control over Observation Haki, and her mastery of this skill might as well be advanced. Hancock, on the other hand, is known to be a user of all three Haki types, which makes her one of the very few women in One Piece who possess the Supreme King Haki, also known as Conqueror’s Haki.
Hancock’s Conqueror’s Haki Infusion
Given that the Kuja is a Haki-based tribe and Hancock is the strongest with the power to wield Conqueror’s Haki, it makes sense for Boa Hancock’s Conqueror’s Haki to be incredibly powerful. Only recently, Oda made it known that the true power of Conqueror’s Haki lies in Infusion. By coating themselves in Conqueror’s Haki, the offensive and defensive powers of any person increase manifold.
According to Kaido, only a handful of the very strongest are capable of this Conqueror’s Haki Infusion. Luffy managed to learn it in the Wano arc and other users of this power, such as Big Mom, Yamato, Shanks, and even Garp have been recently revealed to the fans. Boa Hancock, being from a tribe that specializes in the usage of Haki and an avid wielder of Conqueror’s Haki, should very well have access to this skill as well. So far, fans have not seen a proper demonstration of her Conqueror’s Haki, however, it is only a matter of time before she unleashes this skill and shows everyone her true hidden power.
