Chata Gil is a native Californian with a golden heart who lives in Los Angeles. When she was visiting family in El Salvador, she was shocked to see how many dogs had been left on the streets. As a result, she chose to help a stray dog that everyone else avoided due of its appearance.
A dog walked from table to table in a restaurant looking for food. Everyone drove the dog away, calling him “ugly” and displaying no emotion. Many people disapproved of Chata’s decision to be the exception and feed the dog; some even mocked her, but that didn’t stop her.
Chata couldn’t stop thinking about the dog after he left and went looking for him. When Chata left the dog curled up and abandoned in the street, he decided to pick him up, but he was terrified because he thought they would hurt him.
The lady fed her again in try to recover her confidence. She then arranged for the dog to be transported to the veterinarian by the Miracles of Love Association of El Salvador. Chata discovered that the dog was far better than his outward appearance suggested after a veterinarian examination. Initially, she considered euthanasia to stop the dog’s obvious anguish.
Chata contacted the Saving Huey Foundation animal rescue organisation in the United States to aid the dog that would later be named “Sal.” Chata intended to return to that country a few days later.
Sal is being treated in El Salvador until he is fully recovered and can be transferred to Southern California.
Sal’s rescue group has contacted Tracy Lystra, a member of the Saving Huey Foundation team, who is monitoring Sal’s status and paying his vet fees through Paypal
