Plans for a reboot of Blade, originally portrayed by 60-year-old Wesley Snipes in a trilogy of films, were first revealed by Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.
Blade was created as a supporting character in 1973 by Marvel Comics writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan for the 1970s comic The Tomb Of Dracula.
In the comics, Blade’s mother was bitten by a vampire while she was in labor and her child was rendered immune to being turned into a vampire.
The character in the 1998 film was changed into a dhampir, a human with vampire strengths but not their weaknesses.
The original Blade film earned $131.2 million at the worldwide box office and was followed by the sequels Blade II in 2002 and Blade: Trinity in 2004.
Filming for the Blade reboot was expected to begin in May at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Goth recently starred in the slasher films X and Pearl and another sequel titled MaXXXine is currently in development.
